Benefits of Yoga for Kids

For many years now, Yoga has been used by adults with incredible benefits from its practice. I personally practice 3-4 times a week and find it improves my posture, flexibility, strength, reduces anxiety and gives you some ‘time out’ from your busy day.

Kids can enjoy many of benefits from yoga, especially during tween/teenage years!  We’re going to delve how Yoga can help you and hopefully gain the benefits from it:

1.     It Promotes a Healthy Body

The regular practice of yoga promotes a healthier body. That’s through a wide range of poses that not only stretch but also strengthen and build coordination in the body. Yoga for kids helps to improve the flexibility of the body and, at the same time, increase the overall blood flow. That helps to reduce the risk of injury when engaging in other physical activities.

2.     It Helps Boost the Kid’s Confidence

The fact that kids are mastering new poses, and creating a seamless flow between their mind and body helps to boost their overall confidence. It may seem like nothing, but a small achievement such as a kid being able to touch their toes gives them the feeling of accomplishment. Also, yoga creates a space where the kids can move at their own pace without being compared with anyone else.

3.     It Improves Coordination and Balance

Just like in adults, yoga for kids is one of the most brilliant ways to develop your coordination. For you to pull off a yoga pose, you need to engage a couple of muscles in your body, all at the same time. Therefore, yoga helps the kids to find their body symmetry and improve their motor movement.

4.     Improves Stress Relief and Body Awareness

Another advantage your kid will get from yoga is stress relief and improved body awareness. In that, when kids engage in yoga, they become more open-minded and get to explore the unfamiliar territories of their young minds. Also, they tend to become more comfortable in their bodies.

5.     It Improves the Kid’s Overall Concentration

One of the positive changes that kids get from engaging in yoga is that it boosts their concentration. Kids improve both their focus and overall behavior after yoga classes. In fact, yoga can even be used as a short brain break between lessons to improve the kid’s attention span.
