How to TikTok

The Rise of TikTok During COVID-19

There's no denying, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people interact with each other. That said, everyone is required to maintain a social and physical distance. Although this has become the ‘new norm’, it has mostly affected how we engage and interact as a community.

But the good thing is that people have quickly found more enticing ways to connect during this lockdown. Everyone is jumping onto the new app TikTok. With the rapidly increasing numbers, TikTok has taken the app stores by storm and now serving as a worthy competitor for Instagram and Snapchat.

TikTok has also become a hub for tween-aged girls. They are getting to showcase their lipsyncing skills, stunts and dancing expertise. A lot of kids especially love to make videos in our Candy Pink pajamas. And now that everyone is staying at home and not worrying about dressing up, a pair of soft, comfy PJs is just what they need. What’s better than being in your PJs all day! But I hear you…… how do you use TikTok? Hopefully the below will break it down into an easy step-by-step guide:

How to Use TikTok?

To help you conquer the dynamics of TikTok, we have compiled a guide that will help you to navigate with ease. That will range from creating your profile, filming your videos, adding the special effects and participating in duets and challenges.

Set up your profile

Download the app from your app store and sign up with either your Twitter, Facebook or Gmail. You could also use a standard username and password if you don't want to link your accounts. Edit your profile once you are in. Add a profile photo, add some bio information and choose a suitable username as well.

Find Videos

After you've set up your profile, navigate the video feed on the first tab. The content will be primarily videos. You don't necessarily have to be following anyone. The app will recommend some trending videos to you.

You will most likely come across videos of tween-aged girls making videos in our Candy Pink pajamas. Eventually, your feed will be personalized according to your interests. It won't take long.

Share, Like and Comment on Videos you Enjoy

You have the chance to like, share and even comment on videos that you enjoy. Tap on the heart to like the video. Click on the speech bubble to add a comment and use the forward sign underneath to share.

Make your First Post

To set up your first shot, tap on the camera icon on the centre tab. The flip icon on the top will help to set up the camera in the right direction. You can choose the filters you like, speed, timer and even use the beauty mode to hide blemishes. Also, you can add music effects by tapping on the, 'add sound,' which helps you to choose the musical overlay of your video.

Edit your Video and Add Captions

After you've recorded your video, you can still play around with the filters, music overlays, among other special effects. When you feel the video is good enough, you can add relevant hashtags and a caption. Also, you'll be able to set the privacy of your video.

In that, you can allow duets reactions, turn on or off the comments and access the save button to download the video to your smartphone. You can also save the video for later in the drafts if you are not yet ready to post.
